Trooping the Colour 2010: W D G 'Billy' Mott, OBE, is Warrant Officer Class 1 (WO1) of the Welsh Guards of the British Army, and Garrison Sergeant Major (GSM) of Headquarters London District.
He joined the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards in April 1979, and has served with the Battalion in Belize, Canada, Cyprus, France, Germany, Kenya, and the USA.
He completed operational tours of Northern Ireland and served in the Falklands during the 1982 conflict.
GSM Mott has been a military instructor at the Welsh Guards depot as a Lance Sergeant, and at Sandhurst, the Royal Military Academy, where he was a Colour Sergeant, Company Sergeant Major, and Regimental Sergeant Major.
He was appointed GSM at Headquarters Northern Ireland before his present appointment as GSM Headquarters London District.
He has been a GSM at 'Trooping the Colour' since 2003. He was awarded an OBE (Order of the British Empire) by the Queen in 2007..
